We reel with indecision. The anxiety attack begins.
What to do? What to do? Call on intuition. It's always there,
waiting for the opportunity to guide a situation to a positive
solution. Intuition is the immediate knowing of a truth without
employing the process of reason. It's a flash that compels an
idea, concept, action or knowing that hasn't been determined by
the voice of reason.
Intuition comes in many forms, the most
common being 1) inner-voice, 2) feeling and 3) visions. An inner-voice
intuition probably saved my life. It was late at night, I was
exhausted and walking slowly up a long flight of subway stairs.
Midway up the stairs, my inner-voice commanded, "Move it! Fly!
Faster!" I ran up the stairs, grabbed the railing and jumped steps
to clear the area. At which moment an enormous tree in a pot crashed
onto the stairs from hundreds of feet above.
Feeling intuition is somewhat different.
A friend and I went to a rehearsal at the apartment of a guitarist
we didn't know. A few minutes into the rehearsal the guitarist
left the room and I urged my friend, "Let's get out of here now."
"Why," he asked. "I don't know why, it's just a very strong feeling."
Several days later, the guitarist made the front page of the New
York Daily News. He was discovered keeping a dead woman's body
in an air-conditioned room in his apartment. The body was there
on the afternoon of my visit. Before the body was discovered he
ripped off my friend of all his musical instruments and sound
system.
Visions are more individualized. My experiences
have come in moving- pictures superimposed over reality. I was
looking out a window overlooking the Empire State building. All
of a sudden I saw walls of mud rolling across the sky. I could
see the skyscraper behind the high walls of mud rolling toward
me. Several days later I heard the exact experience described
on TV news in reference to a Mexican earthquake.
Everyone is born with intuition. Try
the techniques for releasing intuitive power and discover which
approach works best for you. If you fail with first attempts,
don't give up. You will overcome problems of inexperience, lack
of concentration, tension or a request for unnecessary information.
Techniques:
1) Ask a brief, clearly worded question
regarding the input needed. Clear your mind of opinion and random
thought at the moment of asking the question. Sustain the empty
state. The mind should be totally concentrated while formulating
and asking the question. Repeat the question 3 or 4 times, using
the same wording at each repetition. See the subject clearly in
the mind's eye. An overall feeling may accompany the initial phrasing
of the question. The feeling is part of the intuitional insight.
You'll know when it happens. The answer comes when needed. When
the question concerns an immediate situation, the intuition will
come within minutes of the question. On other occasions the answer
may occur hours or days later. It pops-up when least expected.
Practice makes perfect and reveals modified techniques suited
for the individual and situation.
2) Visualization is another technique
that invites intuitive insight. Let's say you can't choose between
two professions. Visualize the details of mastering and living
the two professions. Visualize living the details of achievement
in each profession. You'll know what choice to make.
3) Trust body action in dangerous situations.
For example, one is alone in an isolated country home. Intruders
have scaled a fence and entered the porch area. The phone is two
rooms away, your gun is in the opposite direction. The subconscious
knows what to do. Go with spontaneous action, it will move you
along the safest path.
4) Meditate. Visual intuition occurs in
meditative states when thinking of nothing in particular. In a
flash, a picture will superimpose itself over your view. Always
stay with the image. Ask questions and discover where it takes
you. Don't worry about confusing intuition with paranoia, fear
or normal intellect. Intuition is easily recognized. It's a total
knowing, without doubt or internal argument.
